Program
We are pleased to present the documentary video Global Wagner – From Bayreuth to the World at a meeting room in the Merriam Park Library in Saint Paul on Friday, February 23 at 2:00 pm.
Have you ever wondered why Richard Wagner continues to fascinate audiences worldwide almost 150 years after his death? This film engages some of the people who are most intimately involved in thinking about and producing Wagner’s work today. We will hear perspectives on this experience from Bayreuth Festival Director Katharina Wagner, conductors Christian Thielemann and Valery Gergiev, directors Barrie Kosky and Yuval Sharon, singers like Piotr Beczala and Anja Harteros, and author and music critic Alex Ross. You can watch a preview here.
