Become a Member

RWSUM offers several categories of membership. A Regular membership is for one person and offers the following benefits:

• Receive our email newsletter with information about RWSUM events, Wagner- and other opera-related events elsewhere, and other news of interest to our members.    
• Purchase tickets to most RWSUM in-person events for yourself and your guests at exclusive, members-only discounts.
• Register for RWSUM virtual (“Zoom”) lectures and concerts . Most RWSUM virtual events are complementary for members and their guests when using the same device.
• Borrow literature and audio/video recordings from the RWSUM library.
• Purchase tickets to the Bayreuth Festival from the allocation RWSUM receives for resale to its members. If there are more purchase orders than tickets to resell, priority is given to members who have never attended the Bayreuth Festival.
• Access to the RWSUM Membership Directory to identify and contact other RWSUM members (as permitted by each member).
• Ability to offer Wagner-related items (tickets, recordings, memorabilia) for resale to other RWSUM members and friends.

A Dual membership is for two persons within a household. Each co-member of a Dual membership has all the benefits of a Regular membership.

A Student membership is for a college or university student. The applicant must be able to provide current student identification. A Student member has all the benefits of a Regular membership.

Every member must provide, at minimum, his or her first name and last name and an email address. The two persons in a Dual membership must provide different email addresses.

Membership expires at the end of the current calendar year and must be renewed to maintain your membership. A new membership application submitted after September 1 is extended through the end of the following calendar year.

As a member, you will be supporting the Society's operations. We are an all-volunteer organization; your membership dues and donations pay for the Society's fixed costs, such as this website, and help make our events more affordable to all.

There are two ways for you to apply for membership or renew your membership:

• Complete and submit the online application below. You will have the option to securely pay by credit or debit card.
• If you prefer, you can download, print, complete, and mail this membership application form to us, accompanied by a check as payment.

The Richard Wagner Society of the Upper Midwest is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All dues and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
