The Showplace ICON theater, in partnership with the Richard Wagner Society of the Upper Midwest, will present an entertaining and informative preview of Lohengrin prior to the Met: Live in HD performance of Lohengrin at the Showplace ICON theater in St. Louis Park on March 18, 2023.
Using musical excerpts and fascinating historical anecdotes, Daniel Freeman will discuss the historical background, plot, and music of Lohengrin. Click here to see a plot outline of Lohengrin. Click here to see a summary of Richard Wagner’s life.
Dr. Freeman is a musicologist who has lectured on music at the University of Minnesota and has appeared frequently as a speaker at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Dr. Freeman’s preview lecture will not be recorded.
The preview lecture will be given in screen four of the Showplace ICON theater beginning at 9:30 am. This preview lecture is free to all who have purchased a ticket to the Met: Live in HD performance (screen two) at the Showplace ICON theater. If you do not have a ticket, click here to purchase your ticket.
There is free covered parking in the rear, off Duke Drive, with direct access to the theater lobby.
